Top 5 Fierce Females

The action genre tends to be dominated by male actors, but with the upcoming releases of ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,’ ‘The Hunger Games,’ and ‘Haywire’, things are about to change. Not only are all these major studio releases being hyped across the globe, but they also feature female leads who will be kicking some serious butt. No doubt we’ll need to update our list after these new releases, but until then, here are our Top 5 Fierce Females!

1) Angelina Jolie

Say what you want about the woman, but if it’s anything disparaging, don’t say it within earshot of this beautiful badass. Nearly every part she plays is a woman who isn’t afraid to get down and dirty. With her roles in the ‘Tomb Raider’ films, ‘Salt,’ and ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith,’ she’s proven that when it comes to action movies, she can keep up with the best of the boys’ club!

2) Uma Thurman

We’re going to forget she ever signed on to be in ‘My Super Ex-Girlfriend’ and ‘Batman & Robin’ for two reasons: ‘Kill Bill: Vol. 1’ and ‘Kill Bill: Vol 2.’ Nobody but genius director Quentin Tarantino could have pulled off this two-part epic, and we’re pretty sure he’d agree with us that no one could have played The Bride quite like Uma. She may look unassuming and harmless, but there’s no denying that she was absolutely brilliant and intimidating. We wanted to include ‘Kill Bill’ bad girls Vivica A. Fox, Lucy Liu, and Daryl Hannah on our list, but unfortunately, Uma killed off all three of their characters!

3) Linda Hamilton

It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen her on the big screen, but that doesn’t take away from the image ingrained in our heads of the ripped Hamilton doing pull-ups as Sarah Connor in ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day.’ And let’s not forget that she also survived Schwarzenegger in the first ‘Terminator’. It may have been 20 years ago, but when you see a woman load a shotgun with one hand, she earns lifetime street cred in our book.

4) Milla Jovovich

Sure, Naomi Cambell throws phones at people. But Milla takes the supermodel smackdown to a whole other level. She has slain the undead in the ‘Resident Evil’ movies, kidnapped and brainwashed Ben Stiller (playing, ironically, a supermodel) into becoming a killing machine in ‘Zoolander’, and done her own sword-fighting stunts for ‘The Three Musketeers’--in a dress, no less!

5) Sigourney Weaver

MTV was only five years old when Sigourney Weaver played the role of Ellen Ripley in James Cameron’s iconic movie ‘Aliens’, going up against another fierce female—the mother of all aliens—to save a little girl. Vulnerable but tough, Sigourney paved the way for the Angelinas of the movie world, shouting the memorable line ‘Get away from her, you b****!’ before kicking some extraterrestrial butt. Now that’s what we call a battle cry!
