Young Kay Kicks At Sunday's Eviction

Born 11 June 1986, the only boy out of three siblings, Francis Kaphuka AKA Young Kay is a uber famous Rush Records artist who has performed on numerous projects which has helped him successfully build a name for himself as one of Malawi’s best lyricists.

Francis Kaphuka is a man of many names, famously known as Young Kay as well as Hyphan. Hyphan grew up with a reputation of not being confrontational and the unique way which he expresses himself is through writing and music.

He has been voted as Malawi’s best rapper twice by listeners of Joy FM (Local Radio Station) solidifying his status on the hip-hop scene of Malawi.

His mixtape of 2007 “Exhale” is one of the best to ever emerge from Malawi, clever lyricism and his ability to mix Chichewa and English backed by production from Dezert Eagle and the production duo Dare Devil, showed that he was an artist that could stand on his own.


The album featured many artists such as Shawishe, Kenny Klips Dezert Eagle, Cyclone from Basement, Blackamor, Naseelah and Goodson Gomonda just to mention a few, and was mixed and mastered by Rush Records’ Pempho “Rissah” Kafoteka.

Forever challenging himself Young Kay put out his debut album in June 2009 titled "First Impression". This 14 track album has been the highest selling urban album to date. He is currently working on his second album.

Young Kay is a house hold name in Malawi and is always working on showing people why that is so!
