Ashley Cole wanted to visit Cheryl Cole when he returned from America but according to reports the X Factor judge refused to see him. Footballer Ashley Cole wanted to show his support to Cheryl Cole who is recovering from Malaria but according to reports Cheryl Cole did not want to see him and wanted him to stay away.
A source told The News of The World: "The simple fact is Cheryl doesn't want to see Ashley. Given everything she's been through it just wouldn't be a good idea. Obviously it's hard for her and there's a part of her [that] would like to see him. They were married for years after all and she was madly in love.
"But everyone around her, especially her mum and close friends, think seeing him would end up being a bad thing. She's still incredibly fragile and doesn't need that sort of potentially traumatic experience."
Ashley Cole is said to be angry that Cheryl Cole friend Derek Hough is staying at the footballers former home.
The source added: "There's no way Cheryl would even entertain the thought of Ashley deciding who she lets stay.
"The end to the marriage was completely his fault. It's not what she wanted. Derek has been so good to her and she's needed him there.
"It's a very bitter pill for Ashley. The Derek situation just makes the humiliation so much worse. Derek can't stand what Ashley did to Cheryl. He saw the distress he left her in. There's no love lost."
